Overview & Reviews
For 2003, the manual transmission is no longer available with the V6 engine.
- Roomy cabin, convertible version, reliable Camry genes, smooth engines.
- Expensive, two less doors but little added excitement, no manual offered with V6.

2003 Toyota Solara SE - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By mreusser - July 5 - 1:13 amI have enjoyed this car, it rides better than my 2001 Accord did. The only problems we have had is the bearings in one wheel went out. Other than that all we have done is replace the tires and have regular maintenance done.

All is good except for brakes - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By Nick G S - June 30 - 10:00 amWhen I use brakes, the steering wheel shakes. Im surprised Toyota Rotors wharped after just 10K miles!!! Have to fight with dealship now to get them to machine rotors (free of charge). Otherwise the car is pleasant.

Good car overall - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By Johnboy - August 15 - 10:00 amVery easy to use convertible top. Great handling and responsive tight feel on the road. Feels like a Lexus. Ok, not quite, but darn good. Protective cover that sits on back of convertible sometimes flies off at higher speeds and can be dangerous if you dont pay attention to it. One of its only flaws.

Solara - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By glam1 - January 18 - 6:00 pmStill chugging along at 120,000 miles. Reliable; no major repairs needed. Changed battery twice. Needed idle valve control cleaned about 5000 miles ago. Getting only about 20mpg, though.

Disappointed - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By JPA - May 26 - 10:00 amActually I own a 2000 SE V6 Manual and I am very disappointed to see that Toyota has dropped that transmission from the V6 lineup. The manual is the reason I went with the Solara versus the Accord. Now for 2003, the Accord comes with a 240 hp V6 AND a manual for about the same price as a now underpowered and not so fun to drive Solara (in comparison to the competition). I very much enjoy the Solara but in a year or so when ready to buy a new car, I wont consider the Solara without the manual transmission.

Camry Solara V6 - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By Bob Burner - March 20 - 10:00 amThis is a quiet and comfortable auto; no complaint there. But its turning radius needs to be shortened considerably. Also, I would like to see tighter steering; the Solara doesnt do well in highway turns. Otherwise, a fine car.

Surprise - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By Fabio - September 18 - 2:00 amInterior make you feel you are in a much more expensive car. Very quiet interior and powertrain. Had VW Passat before no comparison. Solara is a dream as far as low noise is concern. Handling is good. Acceleration is great. Had vibration on the steering when applying brakes, fixed by dealer next day by recalibrating rotors.

Great ride for older people - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By TonyCanada - March 30 - 2:00 amReliability is never a question. A great highway cruiser with good power. Suspension is on the soft side (no confidence in the turns). This car is more Lexus than Toyota and is great value if you only need two doors.

Good for daily driver, but not a racecar - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
By atclate - February 14 - 7:26 amBought this car used last year, and Ive been driving it daily. Quite reliable, especially because the engine has been used by Toyota for quite some years. However, since the engine is old technology, there are much more powerful engines and transmissions out there. Gas mileage is not good enough, compared to the new V6s out there. Automatic transmission is not responsive enough, loses power starting second gear. Interior is very comfortable though. Cannot find another car this soft and comfy except maybe American cars. Sound system is only better than average. Ride is floaty at high speed, suspension is comfortable but too soft for spirited driving. User features are limited.
